Welcome to the Everyday Kingdom podcast. Today we have a really great podcast to talk about because we're on one today and uh it's titled Better Than a Buttcrack. So uh what are we going to do with that? I'm joined by two of the better than butt crack weevil, Raphael and Miriam.
SPEAKER_01I don't even know what to say to that.
SPEAKER_02Listen, just say the compliment. You are better than a butt crack.
SPEAKER_01Thank you.
SPEAKER_02Like if you take nothing else away from this podcast today, just know this. You are better than a butt crack. Right. Glory to God.
SPEAKER_01All right. Thank you, Jesus. We all have one.
SPEAKER_02You know what? It's part of the body of Christ. Somebody's got to be one.
SPEAKER_01Oof. Part of the body, huh?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. There was always the sheep gate, you know, where the dung gate was, you know. Uh-huh. So uh like it literally, you know, like if we're talking about the 12 gates of Jerusalem coming down out of it.
SPEAKER_02It's a sheep gate.
SPEAKER_00Sheep, sheep, sheep gate.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Everybody's like, what are you all talking about right now? You're joining us, you're joining a conversation, mid-conversation. Uh talking about a lot of random different things. But one of the things that Miriam had mentioned was about comparison in the body of Christ and how we like to compare uh ourselves to others. How am I doing versus how are you doing? And right. Well, at least I'm not like them.
SPEAKER_01Right. You know, well, and even like when we pray for people, oh Lord, pour out your mercy on them. They really need it. Yeah, yes, you know, or so-and-so really needs it in this situation. So give it to them. Lord, I'm so thankful for your mercy. Like we receive it, but we don't actually think we need it.
SPEAKER_02It's it's it's interesting. I was talking to um somebody, we were walking through some discipleship stuff, and we're talking about, you know, just personal study and um why do we study? Why do we read the scriptures? Why do we spend time with the Lord and all that? And what I told him was I said, we don't do it to help other people. We don't read the scriptures to to to to to point out to other people what's wrong with them. We read the scriptures and we study so that we grow and maintain our connection with God. And it's a it's a it's a spiritual discipline that we have for ourselves that we do it from our union with Him. And uh we we we utilize it to help us to grow, to let it be a mirror to our own lives and and to see, you know, God, are there things inside of me that maybe need to change or that you want to you know to speak into and to grow? Uh and and uh but a lot of times what'll happen is people will use the scriptures as a way to nudge their spouse and be like, hey man, you're not you're not treating me like this, and you're not, you know, somebody will be speaking from the pulpit and you you see somebody in the congregation like, hey, this one's for you, you know, and and it's it's living this life from a space of essential comparison of hey, like I'm looking at your life, and Jesus is over here, like, hey, take the peg out of your own out before you remove this pack out of your brothers, you know. And and and so we were talking a little bit about that, you know, beforehand.
SPEAKER_00And I think it's like assumptions, you know. My assumption is better than your butt crack.
SPEAKER_02We we made it we made a joke about uh you know how you look on camera and that kind of a thing, and and uh having like your belly button hanging out. Yeah, Rafael said, Well, it's better than a butt crack. And we all agreed we would rather see a belly button hanging out than a butt crack. And that that spurred a whole conversation that went very downhill, but also in a good way.
SPEAKER_01Right. Because how often do I think, well, I'm better than a butt crack? Yeah, I might be a little belly button here, or I might be a thumb, but I'm better than a butt crack.
SPEAKER_02And and you know, uh I uh I always joke about it, but I'm like, listen, that you know, as far as the body of Christ is concerned, we are all, you know, Paul talks about how we're all valued.
SPEAKER_01That's right.
SPEAKER_02We're all we all serve a valuable part and a valuable role in the body. And honestly, like if you didn't have a butt crack, you know, or a butt in general, you know, it it it's it's a more private area, sure, but it plays a vital role in your life.
SPEAKER_00Bowels of compassion. Yeah. Shut your bowels, do not shut your bowels of compassion. Yeah. You have to you have to have a place where you get stuff out.
SPEAKER_02Right. Right. Or it will eat you up. Yes. Yes. Discard the waste of the things that have been ingested. Like think about that, because there are there's stuff that we take in all of the time, sensory-wise. Everywhere that we go, we're seeing things, we're hearing things, right? We're consuming things. The the function of your body and of your bowels is to excrete the waste out of you that is not beneficial to you. Right. It your body has a system where it will take and it will process the things that you consume, and it will take what is healthy, and it will separate it, the sheep and the goats. It will separate what is healthy and what is unhealthy, and it will take what's healthy and it will nourish your body, and it will take what is unhealthy and it will release it out of your body. In the same way, as we, we as believers, as we are walking and experiencing life, there are things that we are taking in left and right. Not everything is a good thing, yet God has designed us to have a system inside of us that is able to take even things that appear bad and to pull out whatever good nutrients can come out of it and then discard the rest. You know, it's it's it's one of the things that I love to do is, you know, I'm I'll live my life. I might hear a song or see a movie or something that's not what you would call a Christian, air quote Christian, whatever that means, Christian movie, right? Uh because there's even some Christian movies that's like, this ain't all good. You know what I mean? Just because it has that label on it. But it it would be something that the world or that the Christians might label as worldly or secular, that if we allow it to go through the filtration system of the lens of Christ, then he can take and he can find and make good things out of it that would be beneficial for our body. And then he has also uh created us to then be able to discard what is not.
SPEAKER_01That's right. And that's such a great picture that he created us to be able to do that. Like our physical bodies like show how he's created us to be. And too often we're like, oh, I can't handle that. It's too big, it's too, you know, I can't, I can't be exposed to that. I can't, I can't go see go see that person or talk to that person because they might corrupt my good morals. Right, right. That I have I have built up instead of trusting him to take out the good and expel the bad.
SPEAKER_02And and when you live a life of union with him, he has this built-in filtration system that he's put in you called the Holy Spirit. Yeah. Right. And and and it gives you discernment and wisdom and how to navigate those situations. This is why we are in the world but not of the world. You know, we are surrounded by information and things that we are taking in, whether it's through our eyes or through our ears or whatever it might be, that that that don't sound or look like Christ on the surface. Yet if it gets filtered through his filtration system, which is inside of us because we have put the word of God inside of us, then it gets filtered through the word. There are things that and and revelations of God that I have had through what we would call secular channels, whether it's music or a movie or whatever it is, that he has revealed to me because he fills all things everywhere with himself. And if I'm looking for him, guess what? I'm gonna find him. That's right. There's no place that I can go that I can't find him. I can make my bed in the depths of Sheol, I could go to the deepest, darkest oceans, I could go in the darkest of night, and he is still there because he is always there. And so if that is my lens, now all of a sudden, no matter what I'm consuming or what is coming into me, I can find him in it. Now, what I'm not what here, what I'm saying, what I'm not saying. I'm not saying make a habit of consuming whatever you want.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_02Fill yourself with things that are good and think on things that are that are true and pure and holy and lovely. These are the things that are what's going to build us up and encourage us. But what I'm saying is this if you happen to consume something that is unhealthy, if you happen to consume a processed, you know, uh um food that is not a natural food, right, then allow the the process of filtration to take place in your body for it to soak up whatever nutrients it can and then for it to discard the rest.
SPEAKER_00You can cut this part out if you want. But like my boy and I watch He-Man, right? And I like the fact that He-Man looks like he's dead, he's gone without a sword. But the sword is not what is truly his power, his power has always been on the inside. And he raises up from prison, he raises up from things that seem like death, and he starts to defeat Skeletor. Yeah. Now, yeah, yeah. I mean, you you can watch the cartoons or not. Yeah. Now, there's things in that that I don't appreciate.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I don't think um some of the things are kid appropriate, and maybe I might fast forward or different things. That that's me and my son. For other people, that might not be okay. But what I see when I'm looking at something like this is good and evil. Yeah. Life and death. And what will you let rise you out of the prison or keep you there? Yeah. Yeah. Sorry, go ahead. Because you can have all the power and believe that you have all the power, but if you're not having power that is life, it's death. And it will just corrupt.
SPEAKER_02And and I I want to be clear like about what we're saying, just again, for anyone who's listening, that you know, we're not saying don't guard your heart and whatever happened like you can watch and and do whatever you want. That's not what we're saying at all. We're we're saying guard your heart. Be intentional about those things. And also understand that that not everything that you're gonna consume is going to be 100% pure.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_02There, there's gonna be stuff in it that it might be it even like even in preaching. There are some ministers that people love to listen to. It might not be 100% pure. Right. You actually have to take some things before the Lord, be a good Berean, do some study for yourself. And and and be like there's there's things that I've taught myself that I'm like, you know, sitting there today, I'm like, you know what? I don't actually believe that. Like I think that's right.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I don't, I don't think, I think I might have missed it there. And and so then I have to go and and and you know speak about that. But the point is this it's it's allowing whatever it is that comes into us to encounter the gospel of Jesus in us. Amen. And the word of God inside of us. And so, which also means I gotta get the word inside of me. I gotta spend time with him, I gotta spend time getting to know him, right? Uh and it's it's not, I'm not doing it so that he loves me more or so that I'm a good person. I'm doing it because I I want to know him. You know, I want to live from union. It's the same reason that, you know, when I started dating Marley, I wanted to go spend time with her. Right. You know, I wanted to get to know her, right? And so it's this, it's this space for us that understanding that not everything that we consume is going to be 100% pure. So it has to filter through this filtration system that is Christ, that is the word, that is his Holy Spirit within us. And then let everything else be excreted and released out of us. So here, let's tie this back into to people in the body of Christ. There are people who are in the body of Christ who might be the the the butt cracks, the the the butts, the the the excretion points, because what they what God has graced them with is to be able to hear and filter your crap to get it released out of the body of Christ. Because if you hold on to it for too long, if there if if think about like just from a natural sense, if you never release the waste that is inside of you, you become toxic.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_02And and it and it is what builds up inside of you, and then it ultimately you become septic and it kills you.
SPEAKER_01And it leaks out and affects other body parts.
SPEAKER_02And it ends up destroying it. You stop functioning well and your body suffers. But if you have proper, you know, excretion and release, then now your body can function well. And so what can happen is is is you know, but and with better than a butt crack, you can if you live from comparison, you know, you might be an eyeball and you're really beautiful and you have lovely eyes. Miriam, you have really pretty brown eyes, and and and my eyes are not as pretty as your eyes. And I can take that I can compare myself to you, or I can be thankful that this is what we have and this is who God has made me. Right? Your role in the body of Christ, my role in the body of Christ might be similar, but they also might look a little bit different. And if I sit and I compare myself to you in that, comparison is the thief of joy. And it begins to take your eyes off of Jesus and back onto yourself.
SPEAKER_01And that's it.
SPEAKER_02And that like at the core, and that right there, like that's the core of it right there, because that's where all that's where sin creeps in. Right. Because now all of a sudden I've I've taken my eyes off of him, I've become self-centered. And and we at the heart at the heart of every sin is self-centeredness.
SPEAKER_01Well, and just as we were saying, you know, if we if we do consume something, trusting him to help us to discern what is good and what is bad and to expel that, that also works the same when it comes to comparison. Like if I'm looking at someone else and I'm thinking, wow, they always say exactly the right thing, or wow, they never say the right thing, instead of trusting him with what both what they're saying and what I get to say to them.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01That father, whatever I'm saying, I'm trusting you that that that their filtration system will receive the good and take out the bad. Because it all comes back to this place of just sitting in trust of who he is and how he's created us to walk, right?
SPEAKER_00I agree. I think it's also important to know too much of a good thing in the body, like vitamin A or vitamin B thirteen three, um, is not good for you. It will kill your liver if you have one piece of bear meat in the liver. You you possibly might not be in this world anymore. Is vitamin B three bad? No. Is vitamin B seven bad? No. So it's good to have your senses matured. It's milk is good. The milk and steak? Really good. And so we we have to have our senses as mature believers. And I'm speaking about me. I'm speaking about me, especially me. We have to have our senses exercised. Hebrews chapter 5, verse 14. That we can help the whole body.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And and I I I like what you said there too, Rafa, because sometimes what what can happen in the body is that you have someone who's maybe operating in a spirit a spiritual gift and and they it's a good spiritual gift, right? But then it becomes the the the idol of that believer's life. And and and and it r begins to replace relationship in the presence of Jesus. You know, and so you you start worshiping that gift and and it becomes too much of a good thing, which then becomes detrimental to the body of Christ. And and sometimes also what happens is maybe you find something you find, you know, others that are like you, you know, and and you guys are similar and you operate maybe in the same way or have the same ideology, uh, and you get into a room together, and then you just become a large echo chamber. Yeah. Because and because you're not connecting with the rest of the body, you you stay in one place all by yourself, and it just is a resounding echo chamber, and you think, Oh, I'm doing the right thing and good things because we're all saying the same thing and we're all in unity, but it ends up becoming a bad thing or a negative thing because you're not actually getting out with the rest of the body of Christ. And and you've isolated yourself from everyone else. And so it's it's coming into this space of recognizing like I need everybody. Yeah, I was I was created to walk alongside and with others, not by myself, right, but but with others. And I can't look at you and and and see you as something that's very different from me. I'm an eye, you're an ear, you're an elbow, and you're a butt crack. And I can't sit here and say I'm better than a butt cracker. Or I don't know. And I don't need a butt crack because, you know, and you kind of stink, and I don't like to be around you. And and you shouldn't be out in public. And no one wants to see you. Yeah. You know, and and and you can adopt that kind of a mentality towards a person and and towards uh towards another person a person who is created in the image of God.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_02You can adopt a mentality about that type of person and you can cast them aside.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Instead of saying, No, I actually have need for you and I want to be around you, even though we look differently. Yeah, even though your life looks differently than mine, even though you smell differently than I do, you know, even though the way that you live is not the way that I would choose to live. Right. I need to be around you. We need to be together as a body.
SPEAKER_01And you need me too.
SPEAKER_02And you need me too. And I'm not gonna sit here and compare myself to you and and let pride be built up in my life that, well, I am a nose, and I have a really nice nose, you know, and and get all hoity-toity and high and mighty uh and I and think I'm better than a butt crack.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00When the truth is we all need it. There was one time I was coming to a conference, um, I believe it was here, and it was about three years ago, and um this gentleman who lived with my uncle smelled very, very bad. He went into the store and um the whole store like kicked him out. And I mean, it was it was foul. Even after I went back after seven hours, I could still smell his scent in that place. And I couldn't even bear him like entering into the car because I started throwing throwing up. People need to be washed. You need to be washed, I need to be washed. And everybody has a butt crack. Everybody has a butt crack. And we need each other. We really do. If we are to grow, i if there's sickness in one person and they build up immunity, immunity, and they're a part of a group of people, that group of people grow and receive that same immunity, and that's why communion is so important. That's why community is so important, and that's why if this person doesn't have a this immunity or you don't have this immunity, it's good to come together because we begin to work as a body. And I grow, you grow.
SPEAKER_02And I r I remember exactly what you're talking about. And and I remember him being received in the service and and within the the the family. And it wasn't a rejection either, you know, and because with what you're talking about, you know, it's very easy to reject someone like that because it it feels repulsive and wrong and gross and inconvenient, and and and Jesus sought out those types of people. You know, and and even in that day and age, you know, with kids, kids are often pushed aside.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And and like almost like they're second-class citizens, like you have adults and then you have kids, and Jesus is like, No, man, let the kids come to me. You know, he he acknowledged their humanity and and who they were and their value in him and said, I'm not, we're not pushing those people aside. We don't push people aside.
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_02We're not that at the foot of the cross, it's level playing field. It's it if are you a woman? Come here. Are you a man? Come here. Are you a kid? Come here. Are you rich? Come here. Are you poor? Come here. Are you religious? Come here. Are you an atheist? Come here. There it's it's level, it's all level there because that's what Jesus does. You know, and and I think that if that's his perspective of people, then then it probably should be our perspective of people too. And and it should be the means by which we treat others as well. You know, it's we've been so graciously loved and accepted and received by him that that is the same measure that we also should be giving. Freely you have received, so freely give. You know, this is this is who we are designed to be as a body, and we are the hands and feet of Jesus. Right, right. We are the tangible presence of God in this uh dimension.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Saying, bring them to me. Yes. The stinky ones. Let's go you can come be part of this. You know, all of the butt cracks. Y'all can come in. It's fine. Come be part of this butt crack family. You know, like we don't see ourselves as better than you. Right. Yes. Come on. You know, we like you said, we all have them. Like there, there's there are all parts of us that are not beautiful and and need and you know, cleaning and maybe some hiding. But there is no hiding from God.
SPEAKER_01Some covering.
SPEAKER_02Some covering.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yes. And like there are parts of my life that need to be covered by his love. Right.
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_02So let us be a people.
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_02Who are cool with that.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02You know, who are okay with that and who walk like that.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02And who don't have uh an agenda other than I'm gonna love you. That's right. I'm gonna love you well. This is how I choose to live.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02You know, I'm not, I don't see myself as any better than you at all. So let's go walk together. Let's live well together. I love it. So good. I love it. You have anything else you want to say?
SPEAKER_01I think we've said all we need to say about butt cracks.
SPEAKER_02I'm just waiting for somebody to go.
SPEAKER_01Didn't even think about that. Oh man, come on.
SPEAKER_02Get it out.
SPEAKER_01I didn't even think about the hot air that comes with the butt cracks.
SPEAKER_02Oh, oh man. Yeah, that's a whole lot of down, yeah, down the road there.
SPEAKER_00I'm thankful for uh things that we digest, like the Holy Spirit that gets out, you know, immediately. He he he just keeps on fill, he he fills us with himself everywhere and gets out anything that's not of him. And I'm thankful for that that when I think about revelations and I'm not trying to take it out of context, uh spew you out of my mouth. Thank God that he spews things out, but he'll I I know that he keeps things in too. He he refines things, he tastes, he tastes what is good. He's looking for that thing that tastes good. And when something isn't quite right, let me season that with a little bit of salt.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. It's like whenever you eat a piece of chicken and you got a little bit of bone, you just spit it out.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. You know, it's it's because you know that that's by swallowing that it's gonna be harmful for you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02You know, I I thank God that we have the the spirit of God to help us in those with those types of things, to be able to spit out what needs to be spit out and and to swallow what looks like him, you know, and and to to allow that to to to be the the nourishment of our life, you know. That is who he is. Yeah. Amen. So good. I love it. I love it. A little fiber in your diet. Digest the word. Yeah. Glory to God. Well, thank you for joining us this week on Everyday Kingdom Unhinged. But cracks. You are remember this.
SPEAKER_01That's right. You're better than a butt crack. And there's nothing you can do about it.
SPEAKER_02I love it. See you guys next time.
